In Style Salon Staff ‘Creative, Passionate and Professional’
By Laura Goehrke
In May of 1987, Christine Amato and Debbie Brandt followed their dreams to start their own salon.
They opened In Style Salon Inc. at 9376 Chillicothe Road, Kirtland.
Now, 26 years later, the two have grown their business and clientele, pursuing their passion every day.
Amato and Brandt, co-owners and stylists, are joined by fellow stylists Nancy Zbasnik and Tammy Webster as well as Magdalena Hrgic and Liz Cari, nail technicians, and Denise Blazenyak, salon coordinator — all of whom are local natives of Northeast Ohio.
The Salon is full service and offers hair cutting and design, nail services, facial waxing, paraffin dip and more.
The women at the salon believe one of their best features is the environment itself.
“It’s homey here. Everyone is friendly and personable. We know our customers’ names and their families. It’s like “Cheers,” Webster said.
Staff members take pride in their years of experience both as individuals and as a whole.
“We have countless years of cutting and styling under our belts, and we are constantly bouncing new ideas off each other to see what we can do better,” Amato said.
Brandt added, “This business is always developing and changing and we’re continually educating ourselves to keep our clients happy.”
The energy and passion for the creative craft within In Style Salon is anything but waning.
Each stylist entered the business to feed and follow their passions and they haven’t looked back.
“I never complain about my job. I get to meet new people every day while maintaining connections with past clients and we have the opportunity to help people discover what they want,” Amato said.
Zbasnik added, “I love the artistic part of it. You’re able to be creative and then share that with your client and fellow stylists.”
The clientele is diverse, including children, adults, men, women and in some cases, generations of families. “We love the community. Kirtland has always been great, and very supportive of us,” Webster said.
In Style Salon has given support right back to the community as well. In past years they have taken donation of hats and mittens, and have donated to charities such as the American Heart Association and Locks of Love. They have even hosted “Cut-a-thons” at the Kirtland schools.
The In Style staff welcomes both new and past customers to come in for a free consultation.
